Golden Gate Bus, Everyday – Green Stripe - # 70 – must wave down when in S.F. to return to park – ask to get off at Lucky Drive stop. The bus to S.F. leaves approximately 5 and 35 minutes after the hour.

Major bus stops returning from S.F. are:

1.     At the intersection of Main and Folsom. Last bus back is approximately 12:41 am

2.     At the intersection of McAllister and Polk. Last bus back is approximately 12:53 am

3.     At the Golden Gate Bridge Toll Plaza. Last bus back is approximately 1:12 am

Directions to the most common parts of San Francisco

 

BY LARKSPUR FERRY

 

Walk to Larkspur Ferry: From the enterance of the Park, walk  north to the "Pedestrian Pathway to Ferry" sign (blue sign on post), which will bring you to the sidewalk of the freeway  bridge. Stay on bridge sidewalk turning to the right at the bottom. Follow this sidewalk directly to the Ferry Terminal. Total distance is less than 1 mile.

 

Drive To Ferry: Drive south (left out of the Park) to first stop light. Turn right and stay in the right lane; bear right just before the next light onto Sir Francis Drake Blvd. Drive 2 blocks to Ferry Terminal on the right.

 

Drive from Ferry back to Park: Turn left out of Terminal Parking lot onto Sir Francis Drake Blvd. Stay in left lane; go under 101 and the enter onto 101 South (from left lane); get off at Lucky Drive., exit; turn left at next three stop lights; last left will be onto Redwood Highway; go 3 blocks north, park will be on the right side.

Via Ferry to Fisherman's Wharf, Pier 39, the Alcatraz Fleet at Pier 33, Underwater World & Cable Car

 

Take Larkspur Ferry to the Ferry Terminal at Pier #1 in San Francisco. Exit terminal. In front of terminal, go to the median of this street (Embaracadero) to the Muni bus stop. Take the Muni F-line west to the Wharf area. (This is an antique trolley, which runs approximately every 20 minutes) Note: The F-line trolley back to the Ferry Terminal leaces from Beach & Mason streets and runs till after midnight.

 

                ALCATRAZ is a very popular destination and advance reservations are strongly recommended. Tickets ordered by phone must br prepaid with a credit card and picked up at the "will call" window at Pier #33. Their phone number is 415-981-7625 Extension 2. Via Ferry to the California Street Cable Car Line & Chinatown

 

No trip to San Francisco is complete without a ride on the world-famous Cable Cars and a trip to Chinatown. Take Larkspur Ferry to the Ferry Terminal at Pier #1 in San Francisco. Exit terminal. Walk 3 blocks South-West on Market Street to the boarding point for the California Cable Car Line. This cable car will take you through the heart of Chinatown.

 

 

Via Ferry & Bus to Golden Gate Park

 

Golden Gate Park is one of the largest man-made parks in the world and offers 1,017 acres of lush green lawns, paths, lakes and flower gardens. Museums include: The de Young (fine art), California Academy of Sciences, the Japanese Tea Garden (one of the oldest maintained gardens in th U.S.), Conservatory of Flowers, National AIDS Memorial Grove (Arboretum and Botanical Gardens). The Park is closed to vehicles on Sundays, providing a respite for hikers, bicyclists and "dreamers". 415-666-7106

 

Take Larkspur Ferry to the Ferry Terminal at Pier #1 in San Francisco. Exit terminal. Walk 5 blocks South-West on Market Street to Freemont. On Freemont go to Muni station and get on Muni #5 to your choice of stops along the north side of the park.

 

Via Ferry & Bus to San Francisco Zoological Society (Zoo) - 415-753-7080

 

This is the 6th largest city zoo in the country and has one of the world's largest gorilla natural-setting habitats. The zoo is open from 10 AM to 5 PM, 7 days a week. Picnic tables and a playground are also avaliable.

 

Take Larkspur Ferry to the Ferry Terminal at Pier #1 in San Francisco. Exit terminal. Walk 3 blocks South-West on Market Street to the Muni Railway and take the "L" train to the last stop.

BY BUS

 

 

There are two bus systems as follows:   MUNI: San Francisco bus only - never leaves San Francisco and GOLDEN GATE BUS: (green and white bus) takes you to and from San Francisco. GOLDEN GATE

 

Bus Route #70 - from Lucky Drive(Marin Park) to San Francisco:

 

                From Park: Walk out of park and go south on Redwood Highway (to left as you leave the park). You will see a pedestrian bridge over highway 101, cross it and continue south along Nellan street; at first intersection you will see the bus stop between the 101 off-ramp and on-ramp.

 

                Route: Lucky Drive stop, south on 101 to Lombard; east on Lombard; south on Van Ness; east on Golden Gate Ave; south on HydeSt; east on 8th St; north on Mission to Main.

Bus Route #70 - from San Francisco to Lucky Drive(Marin Park) :

 

                Route: Main to Mission to 8th Street to Hyde Street to Golden Gate Avenue to Van Ness to Lombard to 101 North to Lucky Drive.

 

                From Lucky Drive Bus Stop to Park: Exit the bus and turn left, follow Redwood Highway north back to Park.

IMPORTANT: Muni & Golden Gate use the same stops (in San Francisco).

 

You must flag down the bus you want or they will pass you by!

 

 

Via Bus to tour the Golden Gate Bridge:

 

The "bridge that couldn't be built" was opened in 1937. It measures 6,450 and is approximately 1 1/4 mile walk across (one way). It offers a spectacular view of the Bay and the San Francisco skyline. All Golden Gate buses stopping at Lucky Drive will let you off at the Golden Gate Bridge Plaza on the south end of the bridge. If you will be contuning on into San Francisco on a different bus number, be sure to ask the driver for your free transfer.

Everyday: Golden Gate bus #70, (SAN FRANCISCO) to Golden Gate Bridge; get off the at the toll booth and transfer to the MUNI #28 and take it to 19th Ave. and Irving Street. Cross 19th Ave and walk north into park.

 

 

Via Bus to San Francisco Zoological Society (Zoo):

 

Everyday: Golden Gate bus #70, (SAN FRANCISCO) to Transbay Terminal. Then take Muni light rail "L" Train going west to end of line.

 

Via Bus to Coit Tower:

 

Everyday: Golden Gate bus #70, (SAN FRANCISCO) to Van Ness and Union streets. Walk from Union Street to Powell and Beach Streets. Pick up the Muni #39 and it will take you all the way to the top of the road to Coit Tower.
