California Academy of Sciences

An awe-inspiring encounter with science and nature

The California Academy of Sciences is a renowned scientific and educational institution that attracts 1.5 million visitors annually. Located in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park, the Academy features a variety of cutting-edge exhibits and attractions that explore the science of life on Earth and beyond.

The fun starts from the moment you enter at the Kimball Natural History Museum, where you’re greeted by a towering Tyrannosaurus rex. Mosey a little further inside and you’ll find yourself gaping up at an 87-foot-long blue whale skeleton suspended from the ceiling. From the Museum, you can segue to other areas of the Academy, including Steinhart Aquarium, one of the world’s most biologically diverse aquariums; Osher Rainforest, a four-story, encapsulated dome that replicates the biodiverse environment of the Amazon Rainforest; and Morrison Planetarium, which boasts a stunning, 75-foot-diameter screen.

But that’s not all: You can also meet the museum’s African penguins, attend a lecture or workshop, dine at one of the Academy’s two restaurants and peruse science-centered souvenirs at the gift shop. For a more in-depth experience, you can book one of the specialty programs offered by the Academy, like a VIP tour or an animal encounter. Whatever experience you choose, you’re sure to have an awe-inspiring time at the California Academy of Sciences.
